An evening that begins with an intimate lie-down piano concert by Mattias Devriendt and unexpectedly transforms into a refined DJ set by DJ Thang with live piano layered on top. Together, they create a unique musical experience in dialogue with the spectacular light installation by 'We Are One' by Ksawery Komputery.

Lie-down concert? 

On Sunday evening, Oktober 26, find your place on one of the mats arranged around the grand piano in the iconic Wintercircus in Ghent. Rest your head on a pillow, pull a blanket over yourself, and let yourself sink into an intimate concert by composer-pianist Mattias Devriendt and DJ Thang.

Audiovisual Experience

This is more than a recital: the pure sounds unfold in dialogue with Ksawery Komputery’s mesmerizing light installation, surrounding you in an atmosphere where sound and image merge into one. Expect a unique, uninterrupted musical journey where calm, tension, themes, and dynamics carry you for over an hour.

Practical

The concert lasts approximately 75 minutes without intermission and is suitable for all ages from 7 and up. It’s the perfect choice for a special date, a night out with friends, or anyone looking for a unique cultural experience in an extraordinary setting. Or simply for those who want to relax and unwind. Simple mats and a limited number of pillows are available, but feel free to bring an extra soft mat, a pillow, blanket, or sleep mask. Earplugs? Not needed :)

About the artists

Mattias Devriendt is a pianist and composer, known for his lie down concerts that create an intimate and unique way of listening. In the Wintercircus, he returns for the fifteenth time — a testament to the strong bond between artist, venue, and audience. In his evocative concerts, he performs exclusively his own compositions, offering people a chance to escape the speed of the world and immerse themselves in pure sound and silence.

DJ Thang is an experienced DJ from Ghent with a career dating back to 1998. As a resident of the legendary Culture Club, he helped shape a generation of nightlife. He has performed on stages around the world and remains relevant today with his versatile style, always balancing give and take, energy and subtlety. Inspired by icons like 2manydjs and The Glimmers, Thang developed a unique vision: a DJ must be empathetic, read the room, and take the audience on a journey. His work reaches beyond the dance floor: he curates playlists for prestigious brands such as Dries Van Noten and Delvaux (Sonhouse Collection). Always in search of new sounds, Thang creates moments that resonate long after the music stops.

Ksawery Komputery is a creative technology studio based in Gdynia, led by new media artist Ksawery Kirklewski (b. 1988). The studio creates interactive installations, generative animations, and audiovisual performances using code, light, and sound. Recent works include stage setups for Childish Gambino (New York), Julian Casablancas (The Voidz), installations like FLUX (BLINK, Miami, Noor Riyadh), ENTER (NXT Museum, Berlin), and the music video Symphony in Acid for Max Cooper.
