FLOATING POINTS LIVE.
An Immersive Audiovisual Performance by Sam Shepherd and Collaborators
For the live tour of his latest album Cascade, Floating Points (Sam Shepherd) transforms the stage into a multi-sensory experience while melding modular synths, live visuals, and immersive lighting in a synaesthetic collaboration with some of today’s most forward-thinking artists. The entire European tour sold out and headlined the recent Dekmantel festival. This is the only Belgian live show by Floating Points in 2025!
Visual artist Akiko Nakayama performs her unique art live from the stage using different inks and liquids to create her Alive Paintings, an evolving tapestry of colour blown up to the big screens.
Longtime artist collaborators Hamill Industries create live visuals with light reflections and manipulate video of Akiko’s art. They mix all sources and create generative content that reacts in real time to the oscillations and pulses of Floating Points’ modular synths and drum machines.
The show is tied together by the incredible lighting and stage design of Will Potts and Ed Warren, who match the colour detail from screens and engulf the room and audience with light. Led by Floating Points the team of artists and designers react in real time to one another, communicating in their various mediums to create a multi-dimensional retina bending audio visual experience.
About Floating Points
Since his breakout Vacuum EP in 2009, Sam Shepherd has navigated a path from dancefloors to concert halls. Whether leading a 16-piece ensemble, scoring ballets, or collaborating with legends like Pharoah Sanders, his work defies genre. His Mercury-nominated Promises and the groundbreaking Crush album show his deep range and dedication to sonic exploration.
Reviews from The Guardian hailed his London residency as an “unclassifiable triumph”, scoring the performances a perfect 5/5 for blending harp-driven improvisation, modular synth wizardry, and Akiko Nakayama’s live “alive paintings” into a mesmerizing, genre-defying live set. Meanwhile Rolling Stone UK called the show a “dazzling audio‑visual spectacle”, praising Shepherd’s deeply human, unpredictable dance music and the stunning synergy between sound and real‑time visuals at Outernet’s Here venue.
