Two young pianists from Ghent join forces in an enchanting duo concert under the ‘We Are One’ light installation.
Iskander Moens studied music production at the Conservatorium of Ghent and moves effortlessly between genres and countries. Sarshar Ghozat is an Iranian-Ghentese pianist and composer who studied classical piano and composition in Vienna, at the Conservatory of Budapest, and at the Conservatory of Ghent. He has performed in Paris, Poland, Hungary, and most recently at the majestic Opera of Ghent.
What unites them: the piano as a poetic instrument and a playground for imagination. In this concert, they perform their own compositions, interspersed with improvisations on each other’s work. Their music navigates between neo-classical, minimalism, and romanticism — think Max Richter, Philip Glass, and Frédéric Chopin. Two pianos, one prepared, create a world of patterns, reflections, and unexpected colors.
