EarthSonic Presents: TAKKUUK and the New Wave of Climate Activism

Climate Youth Panel

When music, art and activism collide, sparks fly. As part of the Ghent stop of the TAKKUUK global tour, EarthSonic brings together a panel of young voices exploring how creativity can open new pathways for climate action.

For 45 minutes, Emma de Saram (Climate Champion Coordinator, EarthSonic), Caroline Herman (Belgian UN Youth Delegate, Flemish Youth Council) and Tijs Delbeke (Show Up for Humanity, Worried Citizens) will share fresh perspectives on climate justice. Together they’ll unpack how arts and culture can fuel commitment, keep movements alive, and reimagine activism beyond the classic protest march.

You’ll walk away with concrete ways to get involved, whether it’s joining EarthSonic’s 6 Acts, supporting initiatives like Worried Citizens or BirdLife, or finding your own creative way into climate action. Plus, there’s plenty of room to ask your burning questions during the Q&A.

TAKKUUK screening

Once the conversation wraps up, we move straight to Club Wintercircus for a 360° screening of TAKKUUK: a new immersive installation created by BICEP, visual artist Zak Norman and filmmaker Charlie Miller. This powerful work takes you into the Arctic, following the lives, communities and challenges of Indigenous artists.

An evening of dialogue, music, and film, designed to leave you both moved and mobilised.

Meet the panel

Emma de Saram

Emma de Saram is a climate justice activist with a background in the student and trade union movements, grassroots organising, and non-violent direct action. She has worked with groups including Just Stop Oil, Green New Deal Rising and Stop Cambo that bring climate and environmental justice to the forefront of public consciousness. Emma approaches climate action through an intersectional lens, focusing on the systemic and structural issues that cause lasting harm to both ecosystems and human health.

Tijs Delbeke

Tijs Delbeke is a versatile musician, both as a solo artist and through his work with acclaimed Belgian bands such as Balthazar and Warhaus. In 2024, he co-organised 505 – Concerts for Humanity in Antwerp, and more recently he co-founded the citizens’ collective Worried Citizens together with Eline Goethals and Elisabeth Van Lierop, aiming to transform worries into action. On 20 September 2025, they will host Show Up for Humanity at the Atomium in Brussels, an event calling for greater empathy and softness. For this occasion, Tijs has curated a diverse line-up of speakers and music artists, seeking to bring the themes of sustainability and solidarity to a broad and inclusive audience.

Caroline Herman

Caroline Herman is a Belgian UN Youth Delegate for Sustainable Development through the Flemish Youth Council. She also works as a Communications Officer at BirdLife Europe in Brussels, where she contributes to major EU campaigns focused on nature restoration and protection. With a background in Soil, Water, and Atmospheric studies, she is passionate about translating scientific knowledge into compelling stories that influence policy, raise awareness, and inspire action.
